Bm ( B minor ) chord is considered as one of the toughest bar chords on Guitar. I believe we should always try to reach the correct position of the chord whichever it is. The available alternatives we have will work but YES the correct position is actually the correct position and will always sound nice.

There are multiple patterns to play Bm ( B minor ) chord on Guitar, we will discuss four easy Bm ( B Minor ) chord correct pattern in this post which are absolutely correct and easy to play.  

Bm or B Minor Chord:

Let’s quickly cover the Bm (B minor) different Chord available patterns one by one.

1.     The Easiest Bm (B Minor) Chord Technique:

The first Bm (B minor) chord I am going to show you, is the simplest and the useful Bm (B minor) chord pattern even if you play the more complicated once.

You can start playing Bm (B Minor) chord from this pattern as this the easiest way to play Bm (B Minor) chord and reachable for beginners easily.

Place you 3 fingers, index finger on the first string second fret, middle finger on the second string third fret and ring finger on the third string fourth fret and strum first four strings.

This one is the easiest one and there is no doubt that this is the Bm ( B Minor ) Chord which you can play anywhere and will sound like a Bm (B Minor) Chord. Let’s move on to the next pattern.

2.     Let’s Play Bm (B Minor) Chord without Bar (Barre):

To play this Bm (B minor) chord pattern on guitar, You need to add just one more finger to the above discussed Bm (B minor) chord pattern.

Now this Bm chord becomes the four finger chord.

Place you 4 fingers, index finger on the first string second fret, middle finger on the second string third fret, ring finger on the forth string fourth fret and pinky finger on the third string forth fret and strum first five strings (Just leave sixth string) to play Bm( B Minor ) Chord on Guitar.

In this pattern your ring finger and pinky finger will be closer and just next to each other.

To do the practice I will recommend to place your finger on the pattern and strum slowly 5 times the off your finger from the strings shake your hand and again try to place your finger correctly and start strumming slowly and immediately.

3.     The Complete Bm (B Minor) Chord (With Bar):

Now coming to the third form of Bm ( B minor ) chord, this one is the most useful among all three Bm chord patterns.

This one is a bar (Barre) Bm chord, you need to place bar (all the way across on the neck of the second fret of guitar then you put down the other three fingers) from your index finger on the second fret of guitar, your middle finger on the second string third fret, your ring finger on the forth string forth fret and your pinky finger on the third string forth fret to play this pattern of Bm (B minor) chord.

The best thing about Bm or B Minor with bar chord is that if you just shift the same finger pattern including bar towards right side of the fretboard then you can quickly switch and play other chords on guitar.

Whenever you are playing this pattern first put the bar and make sure it should sound nice and clean. Once you reach to that point then start placing you other fingers to play the Bm (B Minor) Chord. Also, when you started playing chord correctly then try to off your fingers from the string after 3-4 strum and then again try to place your finger on the correct pattern and strum again for 3-4 times and keep on repeating this exercise.

4.     Picking Bm (B Minor) Root Node (Alternative of Barre Bm or B Minor chord):

Since fifth string on second fret is the Root Note of Bm (B Minor) Chord, pick this one with your index finger and place your rest of the finger as mentioned in the diagram to play the forth Bm ( B minor ) chord technique.

Your middle finger on the second string third fret, ring finger on the forth string forth fret and pinky (4^th finger) on the forth fret to play this Bm chord pattern.

This one is not the prefer Bm chord but yes the best alternative of Bm chord with bar (Barre) and the best thing is this sounds almost perfect B chord. You just need to ignore strumming on the first and sixth string.

5.     Bm Chord or B Minor Chord:

To play this variation of Bm Chord or B Minor chord put bar on 7^th fret from you index finger, ring finger on 5^th string 9^th fret and smaller finger on 4^th string 9^th fret. This is the Bm chord with barre and since it is existing on the higher fret so this Bm chord is not used frequently.
