F Chord on Guitar | How to play Guitar Chord
(Easy Procedure to play F Chord on Guitar)
We have learnt the pattern of F Chord in Guitar lesson “Chords of Guitar Chart: Guitar Chord: Open Chords”. There
I have explained all basic Open Chords
including the F Major Chord, F simplified chord and F Minor chord on
guitar, their patterns with guitar
charts.
Playing F chord on
guitar correctly is one of the most difficult part to learn for beginners
as you need to stretch your fingers and the correct position is to place a
complete bar (Barre) on the first Fret using your index finger.
To make F chord
playing on the guitar simpler we are
putting our index finger on the first two string on the first fret instead of
placing complete bar (Barre).
We know the difference between Major chords and Minor
chords. Major Chords gives us happy feeling when played and Minor chords gives
us sad feeling when played.
Every time in the initial days of practicing F chord on guitar we are having trouble with the first two strings only as
need to put a bar on it from our Index finger which disturb the placement of
other three fingers. Almost all of the students are facing this issue in the
beginning.
In this lesson we will check the F Chord formation on Guitar and procedure to learn F chord on guitar easily and correctly in
few days.
So let’s make it easier for ourselves as we want to play F
chord on Guitar correctly. Right?

You need to place your index finger on the first two strings
(String E and String B), your middle finger on String 3 on fret 2 and your ring
finger and pinky finger on fret 3 on strings 5 and 4 respectively.

Let’s move towards the major challenge.
How to Play F Chord on Guitar:
Initially its bit difficult but believe me its actually not
so as it looks, just follow the procedure given below and keep practicing it.
Procedure to easily play F chord on Guitar:
1. The trick here is to Correct your Wrist Posture to play F Chord:
This part plays the most important role in
playing F Chord on guitar correctly. Basically we are
habitual of keeping our wrist just perpendicular to the Fret board when playing
chords on guitar.
Here we need to twist our wrist a bit towards left before
placing first finger (your palm seems to be open when you twist your wrist).
Basically there are two benefits of
twisting your wrist.
First benefit is that it gives more flexibility to your
pinky finger (smaller one) to reach to the last chord string (5th
String on third fret) which is a bare minimum requirement to play F chord on Guitar.
Secondly your first finger will be in correct position to
put bar on the first two string on first fret.
Correct Position to Put the Bar (Barre):
Remember that we should not put bar
(Barre) using our fleshy part of finger, we always putting bar from the side of
the finger, which is harder than the front part.
Benefit of using harder part of
finger is that you need less pressure to touch the fretboard and will be able
to perfectly block the fret.
2.
Place your first finger on the first two strings
correctly (correct position is the side of your index finger tip) on first fret
and strum first two strings.
3.
Place your middle finger on the third string on
fret 2 and strum.
4.
Then place your ring finger and pinky on the
last two strings (String 5 and string 4) on third fret. Make sure they are
placed correctly without touching any other string and play all strings individually.
5.
Also, keep playing all the strings one by one
individually to confirm the correct placement.
Try to follow this F Chord procedure stating above everyday
and see the difference. This way you can learn playing F chord on guitar correctly in couple of day only.
Once you are comfortable with this
F chord pattern on guitar then you can also try placing complete bar on the first fret instead of
bar on first two strings. To form this pattern, put a bar on first fret from
your first finger and form an E major formation from rest 3 fingers.
If you find the procedure very
difficult to follow initially and you are in hurry to play F chord on guitar then
there is an alternative, you can also play F
chord Simplified on guitar as
given below.
But sooner or later you have to
face this chord structure difficulty in playing F Chord on guitar
correctly.
So my suggestion is to start the correct position and don’t shy with
the difficult chords as you will get so many other hard patterns or shapes to form in future.

In the
beginning leave first string as well if you are facing trouble in playing with

mentioned procedure and comment if you are facing any issue in playing after
couple of tries.
There is lot more to share, Keep in
