To understand the Guitar string names, Notes and number recognition is quite basic as well as important lesson for beginners to start with the Guitar basics and how to play Guitar.

As a guitarist the Guitar string Names and number position is the first thing we learn, this is required to understand the Guitar chord chart which is the first step towards understanding on different guitar chord pattern and position

Also, help us to understand the lead part and in guitar plucking and in finger picking and actually everywhere. So basically we can’t understand the Guitar language without knowing Guitar string names and their number and position.

Also, you should know that guitar string names and numbers and different in Acoustic guitars and bass guitars. In Acoustic guitars we have six strings however Bass guitars are come up with the different categories such as 4 strings, 5 strings and 6 strings.

Guitar String Number | Acoustic Guitar:

Guitar String numbering system helps you to understand the Guitar chord chart, tabs and to represent the position of your hand on the Fretboard or Fingerboard. Let’s have a quick overview on the String Numbering system.

Basically the thinnest and last Guitar String is referred as First Guitar String (Also known as treble String). And if you will start counting from Thinnest to Thickest then thickest Guitar String is your sixth 6th Guitar String (also known as Bass String).

You can remember there sequence by phrase ‘Elephants and Dogs Got Big Ears’ and my suggestion is to type EADGBE on Google and select the phrase you are comfortable with,
However I have never tried to give it a full name or followed any full name to remember the sequence as there are only 6 strings with only 5 names ‘EADGB’ since last E Guitar string name is repeated (In the beginning full form could help you).

Guitar String Name | Bass Guitar:

Bass Guitars are available with a range of 4 strings, 5 strings and 6 strings options which further extend its variety. These guitars have long neck and thick strings.

Let’s check out the Bass Guitar string names,

·        First String is called as Guitar E string.

·        Second String is called as Guitar D String.

·        Third String is called as Guitar A string.

·        Forth String is called as Guitar E string.

·        If the guitar has Fifth Guitar String then it is called as B0 String (Optional String)

·        If the guitar has sixth Guitar string then it is called as C3 String (Optional String)

So the string names, number of strings your bass guitar holds and there sequence are completely different from your Acoustic or Electric Guitars.
