Want to learn Guitar string Names ?
To
understand the Guitar string names, their
position and number recognition is quite basic as well as important lesson for
beginners to start with the Guitar basics and how to play Guitar.
As
a guitarist the Guitar string Names
and number position is the first
thing we learn, this is required to understand the Guitar chord chart which is the first step towards understanding on
different guitar chord pattern and position.
Also, help us to understand
the lead part and in guitar plucking and in finger picking and actually
everywhere. So basically we can’t understand the Guitar language without
knowing Guitar string names and their number and position.
Also,
you should know that guitar string names and numbers and different in Acoustic
guitars and bass guitars. In Acoustic guitars we have six strings however Bass
guitars are come up with the different categories such as 4 strings, 5 strings
and 6 strings.
Sometimes
the Strings are referred with their number and sometimes called by their name. So
we must remember every Guitar String by String Number and Guitar string names.
Acoustic Guitar | String Names and Number:
Guitar String
numbers system helps you to understand the Guitar chord chart, tabs and to
represent the position of your hand on the Fretboard or Fingerboard. Let’s have
a quick overview on the Guitar string Numbers system.
Basically
the thinnest and last String is referred as First Guitar String (Also known as treble
String). And if you will start counting from Thinnest to Thickest then thickest
String is your sixth 6th String (also known as Guitar Bass String).

Acoustic Guitar | Guitar String Names or String Notes:
Guitar String
names are also having its own importance as this represent the open notes which
in turn changes its name with different frets.
Well
the guitar string names are E A D G B E, here first E is your 6th String (the thickest
string) and the rightmost is your 1st String.

You
can remember there sequence by phrase ‘Elephants and Dogs Got Big Ears’ and my
suggestion is to type EADGBE on Google and select the phrase you are
comfortable with, However, I have never tried to give it a full name or followed
any full name to remember the sequence as there are only 6 strings with only 5
names ‘EADGB’ since last E Guitar string name is repeated (In the beginning knowing full form could help you).
Bass Guitar | String Names:
Bass Guitars are available with a
range of 4 strings, 5 strings and 6 strings options which further extend its
variety and hence Bass guitar following different guitar string names. These guitars have long neck and thick strings.
Let’s
check out the Bass Guitar string names,

First String is called as Guitar E string.
·
Second String is called as Guitar D string.
·
Third String is called as Guitar A string.
·
Forth String is called as Guitar E string.
·
If the guitar has Fifth String then it is called as Guitar B0 string (Optional String)
·
If the guitar has sixth string then it is called as Guitar C3 string (Optional String)
So
the guitar string names, number of strings your bass guitar holds and there sequence
are completely different from your Acoustic or Electric Guitars.
