E Chord is always a special chord for every guitarist or learner. Also, many people start guitar
learning from E Chord.
I have already covered E major, E minor, E
Augmented chord, Edim chord (E Diminished Chord), Esus2 chord (E Suspended) and
Esus4 guitar chords in my previous lesson E Chord Guitar Variation. Please check the previous lesson to
get all mentioned chord detail as all those E chord patterns are the basic E
chord pattern we are going to cover in this lesson.
This lesson will talk about E7 Chord, E major 7
chord, E minor 7 Chord, E Dim 7 chord (Diminished), E add 6 and E add 9
chords.
All these chords hold the same importance as these E
chord patterns are very frequently used in the chord progression and melody.

E Chord Guitar Chords Variations:
- E 7 chord variation - 1:

To play E 7 chord on guitar place your first finger on
3rd guitar string 1st fret, second finger on 5th
guitar string 2nd fret and fourth finger on 2nd guitar
string 3rd fret.

All guitar
strings will be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
2. E 7 chord variation - 2:

To play E 7 chord on guitar place your first finger on
2nd guitar string 5th fret, second finger on 4th
guitar string 6th fret, third finger on 5th guitar string
7th fret and fourth finger on 3rd guitar string 7th
fret.
3. E 7 Chord Variation-3:

To play E 7 chord on guitar put a barre from your
first finger on 7th fret, third finger on 4th guitar
string 9th fret and fourth finger on 2nd guitar string 9th
fret.
4. E 7 Chord Variation-4:
To play E 7 chord on guitar place your first finger on
4th guitar string 2nd fret, second finger on 2nd
guitar string 3rd fret, third finger on 3rd guitar string
4th fret and fourth finger on 1st guitar string 4th
fret.

Strings 5th and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
5. E7 Chord Variation-5:
To play E 7 chord on guitar put a barre from your
first finger on 9th fret, second finger on 1st guitar
string 10th fret, third finger on 5th guitar string 11th
fret and fourth finger on 6th guitar string 12th fret.
6. E major 7 Chord Variation-1:
To play E maj7 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 4th guitar string 1st fret, second finger on 3rd
guitar string 1st fret and third finger on 5th guitar
string 2nd fret.

All guitar
strings will be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
7. E major 7 Chord Variation-2:
To play E maj7 chord on guitar put a semi barre from
your first finger on 4th fret, third finger on 4th guitar
string 6th fret and fourth finger on 5th guitar string 7th
fret.

strings will be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
8. E major 7 Chord Variation-3:
To play E maj7 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 4th guitar string 2nd fret and place a semi barre from the third finger on 4th fret.

Strings 5th and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
9. E major 7 Chord Variation-4:
To play E maj7 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 4th guitar string 9th fret, second finger on 1st
guitar string 11th fret, third finger on 2nd guitar
string 12th fret and fourth finger on 3rd guitar string
13th fret.

Strings 5th and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
10. E minor 7 Chord Variation-1:
To play Em7 chord on guitar place your second finger
on 5th guitar string 2nd fret.

strings will be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
11. E minor 7 Chord Variation-2:
To play Em7 chord on guitar put a semi barre from your
first finger on 5th fret so that it covers guitar strings 2nd,
3rd and 4th. Place the third finger on 5th guitar
string 7th fret and fourth finger on 3rd guitar string 7th
fret.
E Chord Guitar Recommendation:
Guitar
Strings 1st and 6th need not be played (could be muted by
index finger while putting barre) in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
12. E minor 7 Chord Variation-3:
To play Em7 chord on guitar put a barre from your
first finger on 7th fret, second finger on 2nd guitar
string 8th fret and third finger on 4th guitar string 9th
fret.

All guitar
strings will be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
13. E minor 7
Chord Variation-4:
To play Em7 chord on guitar place your first finger on
4th guitar string 2nd fret, second finger on 2nd
guitar string 3rd fret, third finger on 1st guitar string
3rd fret and fourth finger on 3rd guitar string 4th
fret.

Strings 5th and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
14. E minor 7 Chord Variation-5:
To play Em7 chord on guitar place your first finger on
2nd guitar string 3rd fret, second finger on 3rd
guitar string 4th fret and third finger on 4th guitar
string 5th fret.
E Chord Guitar Recommendation:
Guitar
String 5th need not be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
15. E dim 7
Chord Variation-1:
To play E dim7 chord on guitar put a semi barre from
your first finger on 5th fret so that it reaches 4th
guitar string (otherwise put barre in such a way to mute 5th and 6th
string by keeping fingertip loose), place the third finger on 3rd guitar
string 6th fret and fourth finger on 1st guitar string 6th
fret.

16. E dim 7 Chord Variation-2:
To play E dim7 chord on guitar put a semi barre from
your first finger on 6th fret so that it reaches 3rd
guitar string, place the second finger on 5th guitar string 7th
fret, third finger on 4th guitar string 8th fret and
fourth finger on 2nd guitar string 8th fret.

String 6th need not be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
17. E dim 7 Chord Variation-3:
To play E dim7 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 3rd guitar string 9th fret, second finger on 5th
guitar string 10th fret, third finger on 4th guitar
string 11th fret and fourth finger on 2nd guitar string
11th fret.

Strings 1st and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
18. E add6 Chord
Variation-1:
To play E add6 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 2nd guitar string 5th fret (could mute 1st
guitar string from index finger while picking 2nd string), second
finger on 4th guitar string 6th fret, third finger on 3rd
guitar string 6th fret and fourth finger on 5th guitar
string 7th fret.

Strings 1st and 6th need not be played in this E Chord
Guitar Variation.
19. E add6 Chord Variation-2:
To play E add6 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 5th guitar string 7th fret (raise index finger a bit
so that it just manages to touch 6th string to mute it) and put a
semi barre from your third finger on 9th fret so that it covers 1st
– 4th guitar strings.

20. E add6 Chord Variation-3:
To play E add6 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 3rd guitar string 1st fret, second finger on 4th
guitar string 2nd fret and third finger on 2nd guitar

String 5th need not be played in this E Chord Guitar Variation.
21: E add9 Chord
Variation-1:
To play E add9 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 4th guitar string 6th fret, second finger on 5th
guitar string 7th fret and third finger on 2nd guitar
string 7th fret.

Guitar
Strings 1st, 3rd, and 6th need not be played in
this E Chord Guitar Variation.
22. E add9 Chord Variation-2:
To play E add9 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 5th guitar string 7th fret, second finger on 4th
guitar string 9th fret, third finger on 2nd guitar string
9th fret and fourth finger on 3rd guitar string 11th
fret.

Guitar
Strings 1st and 6th need not be played in this E Chord

23. E add9 Chord
Variation-3:
To play E add9 chord on guitar place your first finger
on 3rd guitar string 1st fret, second finger on 4th
guitar string 2nd fret and third finger on 1st guitar
string 2nd fret.
